2018 Hyundai Elantra SR Turbo: owner review
I wanted a sporty sedan without the pretence of it being a hot super sedan in the veins of the AMG or M-series production models.
Owner: John Liew
- The aesthetics both inside and outside.
- Love the Sports drive mode; my favourite 'option'
- Seat warmers for the driver and the front passenger
- I love the fact that the car sits low and clings to the road
- Space saver spare tyre
I wanted a sporty sedan without the pretence of it being a hot super sedan in the veins of the AMG or M-series production models. I did NOT want to spend that kind of money either.
The Hyundai Elantra SR Turbo fitted the bill nicely for me, and the good to very good reviews by auto experts reinforced my views on it.
Testing the 2018 model against the likes of the Kia Cerato GT and the Honda Civic VTiS the Elantra SR Turbo came up on top for me.
It has all the necessary modern conveniences I need and the Android Auto integration worked very well given that I never have to worry about updating proprietory GPS maps like those found in other vehicles.
The three drive modes also work well, although I'm having too much fun to change it from the Sports mode which I set to each time I drive!
Using only 91-Octane unleaded fuel means a lesser hit on the hip pocket when compared with most other makes of similar ilk that use the premium unleaded fuel.
I absolutely love the look of the car; inside and outside. The flat bottomed steering wheel is a standout differentiator that is a conversation starter with my friends and acquaintances.
Sitting virtually flat on the road, the Elantra SR Turbo whizzes past most things stationary or moving with an assuredness that brings confidence to my driving.
There's not much to fault or complain about. I paid less than $30K for an ex-demo with only 700kms on the clock that came with the new car's five-year warranty and free on-road assistance.
After three years, I'm looking at 2022 to the new Hyundai i30 Sedan N as my next update and what I've read so far makes me eager to get behind the seat for a test drive real soon.
