2023 Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate revealed as final-edition flagship
The current Aston Martin DBS V12 sports car is being farewelled with a limited-run 770 Ultimate edition, with more power and a sportier look.
The 2023 Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate has been revealed as the final iteration of its current flagship sports car – and all 499 examples has already sold out.
The DBS 770 Ultimate is billed as the final version of Aston Martin's "current-generation DBS" range – ahead of a significant update due in the next 12 months – and brings more V12 power, a sharper chassis, and an aggressive new look.
Only 499 examples of the DBS 770 Ultimate will be built – across 300 coupes and 199 Volante convertibles – and all have been spoken for. Global deliveries are due to begin in the third quarter of 2023 (July to September)
A representative for Aston Martin in Australia could not confirm to Drive if any Australians have ordered a DBS 770, or how much the car would cost in Australia.
Power comes from an upgraded version of the standard DBS range's 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, now developing 566kW and 900Nm – up 33kW (but 0Nm), thanks to increased turbo boost pressure, and revised "air and intake pathways".
The DBS 770 is the most powerful series-production Aston Martin ever – which excludes the F1-inspired Valkyrie hypercar, which is 300kW more powerful but more bespoke.
Sending power to the rear wheels through a retuned eight-speed automatic transmission and a mechanical limited-slip differential, Aston Martin claims a top speed of 340km/h – unchanged from the regular DBS.
Under the skin, the British sports-car specialist claims it has added an "enhanced" front cross member and a thicker rear undertray to improve the car's torsional stiffness by 3 per cent, and improve front-end lateral stiffness by 25 per cent.
The adaptive suspension has been revised with a new damper calibration and software tune, while a solid-mounted steering column has been fitted to improve steering response and feedback, the company claims.
The DBS 770 Ultimate rides on unique 21-inch alloy wheels – available in satin silver, satin black or a two-tone satin black and metallic finish – wrapped in 265/35 R21 front and 305/30 R21 rear Pirelli P Zero tyres.
The carbon-ceramic brakes behind the alloys are carried over from the standard DBS, and measure 410mm up front and 360mm at the rear.
Onlookers will be able to differentiate the DBS 770 Ultimate from the standard model on the road with its aggressive body kit, including a new front splitter (but an unchanged grille), a 'horseshoe' vent on the bonnet, larger carbon-fibre side skirts, and a new rear diffuser.
The window surrounds, mirror caps and front wheel-arch vents are finished in carbon-fibre twill as standard.
Inside, buyers can choose between Sports Plus seats trimmed in quilted semi-aniline leather and Alcantara – or a track-ready 'performance' seat (pictured) with a carbon-fibre back.
Other changes include contrasting interior trim colours linked to the stitching, a "tailor-made" strap and buckle over the centre armrest (with a laser-etched DBS 770 Ultimate logo), carbon-fibre steering-wheel shift paddles, and unique door sill plates.
Buyers can go further with customising their car through the Q by Aston Martin program, which offers options for Q-specific exterior liveries, body-coloured wheels, tinted carbon-fibre and woven leather seat inserts, trim inlays, and carbon-fibre steering wheels.
Production of the 2023 Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate is due to commence before the end of March, ahead of first customer deliveries between July and September 2023 (the third quarter of this year).
Australian pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed.
