This is my second Giulietta Type 940, my first being a Progression from 2014 which I used as a work car across Sydney, NSW and the ACT. I really enjoyed it, which is why I continued with Giulietta in Veloce form. I bought the Veloce new and have had it now for four years.
The power this thing has is pretty incredible. The fuel consumption is more like 9 litres per 100 kilometres, and not the 6.8L/100km claimed. Mind you, I use it more for city driving these days. The suspension and handling is far superior to the Progression set up, being much more refined.
There's something I really like about the curvy architecture of this model; the short overhangs, long bonnet and truncated hatch with pronounced crease over both wheel arches make the car look like it's ready to pounce.
I always enjoy getting into this car for a spin. It's fun and engaging, especially in Dynamic mode. It also attracts a lot of attention on the road, especially in the silver colour with the black panoramic glass roof. It sits low, but not too low as to be a nuisance negotiating over speed bumps or entering or exiting driveways. It purrs as you drive but it's not noisy like those other hot hatches that sound like they have a flatulence problem.
Servicing through Alfa dealers has been good (not too expensive) and the car has been super reliable. The sound system is really good. The only thing I wish it had was Android Auto as an upgradable feature through Alfa rather than aftermarket. Electrical aftermarket additions are not a good thing in these euro cars, as they're not designed to take them, which can cause problems. Having said that I do have Android Auto in another car and don't use it anyway.
The seats are comfortable in this model as well, being very supportive and on the firmer side. All in all I am very happy with my Veloce. I've looked at other cars but the Veloce is the best balance of technology, performance and style. It doesn't have all the gimmicky tech that will probably play up and send you to dealer for warranty repairs, like some of the German makes. Alfa is also premium without the pretentiousness of some other Makes. There's something very satisfying about owning these cars which is why Alfa owners tend to hang onto their cars for longer compared to other premium brands, I reckon.
