There's a brand-new vehicle joining BMW's line-up. It's bespoke, high-performance, and is packed with unique interior elements and eye-catching exterior features. Here's everything you need to know.

What is the BMW XM?

The BMW XM is a high-performance luxury SUV. The brand refers to this vehicle as a SAV – a Sports Activity Vehicle. The XM is the first standalone M vehicle in more than 40 years.

Is the BMW XM electric?

The BMW XM isn’t a fully electric vehicle, rather a plug-in hybrid. The SUV is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine developing 360kW and 650Nm.

That’s coupled to a 145kW/280Nm electric motor and a 25.7kWh battery pack, with claimed combined outputs of 480kW and 800Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The XM will initially be offered in this single variant, with a more powerful Red Label version slated for Australia at the end of 2023.

How much is the BMW XM in Australia?

The BMW XM is priced from $297,900 plus on-road costs. This makes it the fourth most expensive BMW on sale in Australia.

What is the driving range in the BMW XM?

The claimed driving range of the BMW XM when running solely on electric power is between 82–88km. This brings its top speed down from 250km/h to 140km/h.

BMW claims a zero to 100km/h sprint time of 4.3 seconds.
