2019 Kia Stinger GTS: owner review

The Stinger GTS performs surprisingly well. What is needed is the option from Kia to have a performance enhancing engine computer tune that gives the wanted upgrade without the worry from the dealership. Chrysler has MOPAR, Ford has Ford Racing, Toyota has TRD, Mercedes has AMG and BMW has M series. If you want to run with the big dogs, bring your ‘upgrade game!’
The addition of a supercharger to the twin turbos would be one heck of a game changer for the Kia Stinger GTS.
The Stinger GTS came with Michelin Sport 255/55 R19 tyres which are good for 30,000 miles. My GTS is two years old with 24,000 miles and the rears were down to the tyre wear bars. I do not drive the car in a manner that burns the tyres up.
I switched to Bridgestone Potenza 265/55 R19 tyres all the way around. The Brigs are slightly wider and taller. I like the look and feel of the Brigs because I do not feel like the tyres are riding on the rims. I am partial to these tyres from my working days and the many miles in the wet and dry I travelled. There are many great tyre brands available, so pick according to your personal likes.
The GTS uses 93 octane gasoline and because it is a GDI engine I use only top tier fuel. I get the dealership to change the oil at the recommended times so there is a record on file at the place I would take it to if a problem arose or a repair were needed.
The cabin is very comfortable and the seats are adjustable enough to give support for the long trips. The air conditioner handles the high heat temperatures and high humidity of South Texas without issues. The controls are very easy to use and are self explanatory. The Kias are all quick to assist with ice on the front windshield or back glass.
The battery and spare donut tyre is fitted in the back under the carpet covers. It is easy to get to and remove what is needed. The items are very secure and do not rattle when secured properly.
Because the GTS is a hatchback style it requires attention when looking outward to the rear sides. There are side mirror rear/side proximity indicators, plus rear camera and rear cross traffic, along with front proximity parking indication.
I highly recommend the Kia Stinger GTS.
