2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk (4×4): owner review

I needed something for the daily commute and to tow a small boat to the ramp on the weekends. I purchased the vehicle new and I loved it from the start. It's great to drive and goes well.

The technology pack makes it treat to drive. The heated leather seats will have all your passengers with aching backs loving you and reaching for the button to turn the heat on.

However the best part is the adaptive cruise control. No longer are you on and off the brake and accelerator when on the freeway or on a long drive. The car manages the speed for you if you find a slow person in your lane. It's the best feature ever.

I have not had a problem with the car. It always just starts and goes.

Storage space is okay, although I would not say great - but I went from a ute to the Jeep, so I may not be the best judge.

The down side of the car would be the cost of spares. I once had a rock thrown up from a truck, which cracked a headlight. The quote from Jeep was $4920 to replace; yes, you read that correctly. Almost $5000! I have heard similar stores on the cost of spares from the insurance assessor.

The other thing I am not sure about is the the sunroof (or moonroof). It's huge. It's nice to crack the roof to let some fresh air in, however all the glass, even with the shade screen across, does heat the car up when the sun is shining down on it when it's parked - and we all know Australia gets a lot of sun. The way I combat this is with the air con and by remotely starting the car before I get in.

Would I buy one again? I'm undecided. It's lovely to drive in the city, on open roads and off the beaten track. It seriously is. It is comfortable and handles like a dream and you could drive it all day long. However when you look at the cost of spares, if the headlight price is an indicator, I am grateful that I have not had to repair anything else so far. But it does leave you apprehensive when you put the car in for a service, or as it gets older.

Will I regret having the Jeep if things need replacing? It's a tough call.
